To divide 95 by 4, I would first note that 2 x 4 = 8, and 20 x 4 = 80. So if we subtract 80 from 95, we have 15 left over. I happen to remember that 3 x 4 = 12, so if we have 20 times 4 and then another 3 times four, that is 80 + 12 which adds up to 92. If I subtract 92 from 95, I have 3 left over. If I divide 3 by 4 I get 3/4 or in other words, .75 so the total answer is 23.75 which of course, I could also get much faster using my calculator. But it is also nice to be able to do it manually.
