x^(8) / x^(-3) =>
x^(8 * x^(--3) =>
x^(8) * x^(3) =>
x ^(8 + 3) =?
x^(11)
Remember the rules for indices.
The coefficient, 'x' in this case must be the same. For different coefficients the rules do NOT apply.
For Multiplication ; Add the indices.
e.g. x^(n) X x^(m) = x^(n+m)
For Division ; Subtract the indices.
e.g. x^(n) / x^(m) = x^(n - m)
For 'nesting of indices' ; multply the indices.
e.g. (x ^(n)^(m)) = x^(nm)
e.g. 2^(4) X 2^( 7) = 2^(11)
2^(4) / 2^(7) = 2^(-3)
(2^(4))^(7)) = 2^(4 x 7) = 2^(28)
Another subtlty is to remember that when removing an index above or below the division line, then change the sign .
e.g. 1/2^(3) = 2^(-3) ; Note the '1 over; has been removed.
Or 2^(4) = 1/2^(-4)
Hope that helps!!!!!
8 to the power of 3 is 512, as it is 8 x 8 x 8.
The expression is: x -3/8
x+3/4 = 7/8 Is the same as: x+6/8 = 7/8 x = 7/8- 6/8 x = 1/8
8 over 5, which is the same as 8 over 3 (where 3 is calculated as 8 - 5). In other words, (8 x 7 x 6) / (1 x 2 x 3).
x^3 + 8 = (x + 2)(x^2 - 2x + 4)
8 to the power of 3 is 512, as it is 8 x 8 x 8.
The expression is: x -3/8
x+3/4 = 7/8 Is the same as: x+6/8 = 7/8 x = 7/8- 6/8 x = 1/8
8 over 5, which is the same as 8 over 3 (where 3 is calculated as 8 - 5). In other words, (8 x 7 x 6) / (1 x 2 x 3).
x^3 + 8 = (x + 2)(x^2 - 2x + 4)
(x^3)(x^5)=x^8
x/3 = 8 Multiply both sides by 3: x = 24
3/8=x/56 168=8x 21=x
8 x 10-3 = 8 x (1/103) = 0.008
It is: 3*10^-8 is equivalent to 0.00000003
2^3 times x
x^3 -8 is two terms of an algebraic expression
