There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?

y = (x+1)/(x-7)

Multiply both sides by (x-7):

y(x-7) = x+1

xy-7y = x+1

Isolate x...

Subtract x from both sides:

xy-x-7y = 1

Add 7y to both sides:

xy-x = 7y+1

Factor out x:

x(y-1) = 7y+1

Divide both sides by (y-1):

x = (7y+1)/(y-1), y<>1 (To avoid division by zero)
