What are some ways in which data collected may be inaccurate?

data could be entered inaccurately because of:human errornatural disasters

Why would it be important to record data accurately as it is being collected?

Data should be recorded as soon as possible after collection because doing so will help to ensure that the data collected is actually the data recorded. If you rely on your memory and do not record the data until some time after collection, it could be that you don't acurately recall the full details of the original data and so the end data can easily be flawed. There are many ways to check if data is being properly collected. Experiments done in a laboratory setting may require hand written notes on observations. These observations should be written in a bound notebook, that belongs to the researcher. The time and date of the observations should be noted. The reason to do this immediately is so that the observations are fresh in the researcher's mind. Sometimes data is collected on paper and then entered into the computer. This should be done as soon as possible and checked very carefully. Let say we are conducting interviews to collect data. The information is immediately recorded usually on a special form, and then checked to see if all the necessary information is obtained. If we delay in recording data, some of it can be misplaced. Delays may be caused because we don't have the right tools (pen, paper, or laptop computer) to record data. If some of the data is missing, then the reliability of the study may be questioned. Some data is automatically collected by computers. This can greatly enhance the reliability of the data because it eliminates the human error, and the data can immediately be seen by everyone that has access to the computer. ----

What is statistical information?

It is information collected about entities. Both these terms are vague and this is because the type of information as well as the entity, which the information refers to, can be so varied. The type of information can becategorical, for example, colour of eyes, or pet, ordinal, for example, small / medium / large, or strongly agree / agree / disagree / strongly disagree, highest level of qualification;discrete quantity: number of rooms in house, age (in years), number of worms in a square metre of land;continuous quantity: mass, height, time taken to run 100 metres. The observation units (entities) can be people, trees, countries, diseases, galaxies. You can have one observation each about many entities but also more than one observations about a single entity, or a single observation about a single entity.

Can the mode be used to describe both categorical and numerical data?

Yes. here is an example: The mode is the most frequent subject that appears in a set of data. So if the data was 2, 5, 5, 7, 10, 10, 10, 10, 11, 12, 13, 13. The mode would be 10 because it appears the most. The mode can be categorical and numerical. I have already proven that the mode can be numerical in the sentences above. For an example of categorical data, say I surveyed some people about what their favorite food was and this was the data: Pizza, pizza, pizza, ice cream, ice cream, strawberries, strawberries, oranges, spaghetti. The mode would have been pizza.

Advantages and disadvantages of primary and secondary sources of information?

Primary sources of information are great because they are first hand information from someone who was there. Secondary sources are based on primary sources, and may be biased.

Why might the information collected by market research is inaccurate?

Market research information can be inaccurate due to biased survey questions, small sample sizes that don't reflect the target population, respondent misinterpretation of questions, or data collection methods that skew results. Additionally, factors like non-response bias, social desirability bias, or outdated information can also contribute to inaccuracies in market research data.

Why do you need numerical method?

Numerical Methods are used because of following reasons> 1. NO analytical solution of a problem exists. 2. Analytical solution exists but is difficult to find. 3. Due to use of computers, cumbersome calculations can be done easily and solution is reached in shorter duration of time.

Why is it difficult to collect accurate data on starvation?

It is difficult to collect accurate data on starvation because it is unethical to conduct controlled studies that involve starving people or animals. Most data on starvation are collected retrospectively (after the fact). This makes them subject to many types of error and bias.
