The mean is a summary statistic that shows where the center of your dataset is. There are several types of mean but the most common is the arithmetic mean which is simply the sum of all the values divided by the number of values.
To find the median of a set of values with an even number of values, place the values in ascending or descending order, find the 2 middle numbers and add them together and divide that total by 2 and that's the median.
Simplest terms, it means that the sample values are grouped closely together. Another way of saying it is that the range of values is small. The plot will be a leptokurtic plot (peaked).
