"Range" usually refers to the distance between the greatest and least element in the data set. For example, the range for [1, 2, ..., 10] is 9 (10 - 1 = 9).

Usually, it's the difference between the highest and lowest numbers in a set.

The range of the set 1,2,3,4,5 is 4.

In any given set, the range is the smallest number subtracted from the largest number.

Ex. 10, 17, 20, 45, 68

68 - 10 = 58

The range is 58.
