The numbers on new balance shoes indicate the amount of support provided by the shoe and overall quality of the shoe. The number is also reflected in the MSRP, as sneakers with higher numbers also come with higher price tags, which makes pretty good sense because if you are getting more support and quality then you have to pay a higher price. As a general rule for myself, a person working on my feet all day, I like to buy them above 700. I can definitely tell the difference in the support offered by my 970's and my 720's though...and I must say I greatly prefer to wear the 970's.
The numbers are 33 and 34.

Let the number 'n' & 'n+1' Hence their product is n(n+1) = 1122 Multiply out the brackets n^2 + n = 1122 n^2 +n -1122 = 0 It is now in Quadratic form either factor or use the Quadratic Eq'n. n = [-1 +/- sqrt[(1)^2 - 4(1)(-1122)]} / 2(1) n = -1 +/- sqrt[ 1 + 4488]} / 2 n = -1 +/- sqrt[4489] / 2 n = { -1 +/- 67}/ 2 n = -68/2 = -34 & n = 66/2 = 33 Hence the two numbers are 33,34.
