Search the keyboard for a key with a label that looks like x1/y.
If your calculator has a label like that, then that's the key you'll use
to perform a 5th root. Step-by-step instructions are included in the
instruction booklet that came with the calculator. In sketchy form . . .
-- Key in the number into the display for which you want the 5th root.
-- Press the [ x1/y ] key.
-- Key in the root you want ( 5 ) into the display.
-- Press the 'equals' key.
Enter the number, press ^ and enter 1/3 i.e. the cube root of 27 would be 27^(1/3)

The square root button on a calculator is normally the button which resembles a 'tick' symbol. Depending on the calculator you will press this before or after entering the number you wish to square root.
