How do you find all the factor of 40?

First, every number has at a minimum, itself and one as factors (for Prime numbers, these are the only two factors).

Next if you recognize that 40 is even, then 2 is a factor, so divide by 2 to find the quotient of 20. Then 20 can be divided by 2, so another 2 --> 10. 10 divided by 2 is 5, which is prime.

So 40 = 1 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 5. Combinations of these prime factors will also be factors (like 2 x 2 = 4, and 2 x 2 x 2 = 8).
