and lined up in (20 x 19 x 18 x 17 x 16) = 1,860,480ways. Those are permutaions.

If it doesn't matter how they line up, and you only want the number of different groups

of five people, then there are 1,860,480/(5 x 4 x 3 x 2) = 15,504 different groups of five.

(That's because the same five people can line up in (5 x 4 x 3 x 2) = 120 different ways.)

Those are combinations.
