Although the origin of zero is controversial, some historians believe that it was invented by the Babylonians in about 500 BCE. In the sixth century, it was discovered by the Hindus and Chinese, and 700 years later, it reached the Western world via the Arabs. Zero is the only integer (whole number) that is neither positive nor negative. In a sense, zero makes negative numbers possible, as a negative number added to its positive counterpart always equals zero. When zero is added to or subtracted from a number, it leaves the number at its original value. Zero is essential as a position holder in the system known as positional notation. In the number 203, for example, there are two hundreds, zero tens, and three ones. Zero indicates that the value of the tens place is zero. In the number 1024, zero indicates that the value of the hundreds place is zero. Scientists use the term absolute zero (0° Kelvin) to refer to the (unattainable) theoretically lowest possible temperature, at which the kinetic energy of molecules is zero.
The oldest known use of a large dot as zero was in 683 CE. It is not clear when the dot was hollowed out to a 0.
The Romans had no symbol for zero but medieval monks, writing in Latin introduced the symbol N to represent the Latin word Nullae (meaning nothing).
That symbol, when placed before or after a date, signifies that it was after the year 0. Usually if there is no abbreviation before or after a date, it is assumed to be after the year 0 as well. BC is the opposite, meaning that the date was before the year 0.
0 is a symbol for the absence of a number.
The number 0 was invented by 2 very talented, beautiful, amazing, super smart girls from paisley called Lauren Pratt and Lauryn Scott. They are so intelligent LEGENDS! Originally numbers were represented by tally marks. Then grouping tally marks were introduced. (And letters were used to represent numbers in some cultures.) Then place value was sort of introduced (by the Babylonians); to ensure the number marks were kept in their right places, a null symbol was introduced as a place holder - to show an empty place value. This symbol then evolved into 0.

The Romans had no symbol for the value zero (0) because they did not need one in their system. However during the middle ages monks, who still used Latin and Roman numerals, introduced the symbol N (from the Latin Nullae, meaning nothing) to represent zero.
No because the 0 symbol originated from the Indian subcontinent but he may have improved on the usefulness of the zero symbol.
Horizontal line
There is no symbol above the number 0 on my phone keyboards. So clearly, it is not a standard.
