The General Equation for the area of a triangle is

Area(A) = 0.5 X Base(b)/ units X Perpendicular Height(h)/units.

Algebraically

A = 0.5 bh

Remember too , when multiplying together the numbers, you also multiply together the units. be they, inches, feet, miles, centimetres, metres, kilometres.

Hence

units X units = squared units or units^2

The '0,5' is a constant and has not 'units'.

Substituting in the numbers.

A(units^2) = 0.5 X 14 units X 5 units.

A(units^2) = 0.5 x 70 units^2

A(units^2) = 35 units^2 .

So for the sake of clarity if the original units were 'inches' then the answer is in 'square inches' . Or if the original units were 'metres' , then the answer is 'metres^2' or 'm^2'.

Note the use of 'squares inches' for the imperial system, and 'm^2' for the metric system.
