The domain of a function is the amount of numbers that function can draw from. For instance, a function +2 has an infinite domain, because you can add 2 to any number. The function square root would have only a domain of positive numbers, because you cannot find a square root of a negative number. All the numbers that can be acted on by the function and give a valid result are considered numbers in the functions domain.
