The difference is that one is true for all values of "x" (or whatever variable you use), the other for no value of the variable. It isn't always obvious just by looking at the equation whether is an identity (true for all values of the variable), or whether it has one solution, several solutions, or none. However, if you solve it, you'll soon find that out.

When can you say that a number is called a solution in algebraic expression?

An algebraic equation or inequality can have a solution, an algebraic expression cannot. If substituting a number in place of a variable results in the equation or inequality being a true statement, then that number is a solution of the equation or inequality.

What is the difference between integration and derivation?

Integration results in an equation which gives the area under the original equation between the bounds. Derivation results in an equation which gives the slope of the original line at any point.

How do you check an equation?

It really depends on the type of equation, but in the simpler cases - those that you are likely to encounter in high school algebra - you will usually need to replace the purported solution into the original equation, then simplify the equation as appropriate. If this results in a true statement (for example, "5 = 5"), then the solution is correct; if you get a false statement (for example, "1 = 0"), then the purported solution is not correct.

What equation has a solution of 9?

Of course, x-1=8 is a solution. Any equation which results with the variable value as 9 is ur answer. For eg: x = 9 / x-9 = 0 1 - x = -8 / x-1 = 8 x-2 = 7 / 2-x = -7 Any, any such equation will be your answer(correct answer). Enjoy
