Decimals are easy to compare, add, subtract, multiply, and divide, because they already have a common denominator. You can tell at a glance which is bigger than which.

Further the SI, or metric-based, units are based on decimals and powers of 10, so any vulgar fractions in using them arise only when writing real values in a formula.

You determine the least to greatest in decimals by using their leftmost unit. The decimal 0.2 is less than 0.3. To determine fractions, you need to first convert them to decimals.

why are fractions importanrt? The answer is rather simple... 1) some people prefer using fractions over decimals. 2) fractions are easier to read. and that's all I know Hope this helps

Fractions and Percents.

Because some decimal numbers can't be converted into fractions if they are irrational numbers.

It depends on what you are trying to do. For most people using decimals is easier because it allows them to visualize the number better than a fraction. For example, if you needed to order them from least to greatest, it may be easier to see them in decimal form rather than fractions. However, fractions are usually more accurate because some decimals need to be rounded off. For example, the fraction 1/7 is more accurate than the decimal form .142857142857..... because the numbers 142857 continue on infinitely.

This question has been answered under Roman Numerals.

Not really, since roman numerals don't have units smaller then one.

If you can write down the number completely, using digits, decimals, and fractions, then it's rational.

A line plot can be made using fractions. Just use fractions rather than whole numbers or other data to mark the scales of the horizontal axis and vertical axis

Divide the denominator into the numerator. 1/2 = 1 divided by 2 = 0.5

If you can completely write a number, using digits, fractions and decimals, then the number is rational. You appear to have accomplished that.

The concept of "prime factorization" is used for integers. It doesn't make sense to use it for fractions or decimals.

well it is easy because you know how between every while nomber there is a decimal, like 0.5, and there are fractins, like 1/2. If you look at using decimals, then it is the same thing as using fractins because all decimals equal a fractin like 0.5 = 1/2 or .1 = 1/10, just replace deecimals with fractions and there you have it! Finding the LCM helps you add and subtract fractions accurately.

Multiplying by 100 is easier. Just move the decimal point two places to the right.

You use fractions (or some variation, such as decimals) in any situation where whole numbers are not sufficient. For example, when you want to measure the object of a length in meters, and a whole number of meters is not precise enough.

Metric numbers are represented using decimal places rather than fractions usually.

Integers are whole numbers and are used constantly, especially when, before I retired from work, I would check that my wage package (wage slip) was correct! So while 1, 2, 3, or -1, -2, -3 are integers, the decimals 11.2, 234.55 or -11.2, -234.55 are not.Every time you need to use 1, 2, 3, and so on in maths, or even counting your money to ensure you have enough to get the bus home rather than having to walk, you are using integers!
