If the function is one of a single variable, f(x), then the range which is given by f(x) is equal to the range which is given by x when we have the following:

f(x)=x

on a graph this would correspond to a line through the origin with a slope of 1

any point, (x,R), on this line would appear as for example (0,0), (1,1), (2,2), (3,3).....(c,c)
