If it's a linear function, 3 should do, but 4 will give an extra check on you work.

If the function is quadratic exponential, etc. then at least 4 pairs should be used.

How do I know if a set of numbers are a function?

If one x-value does not have two y-values, then it is a function. In other words, x cannot be repeated. For example, take a parabola whose vertex is at the origin and points are all found in the first and fourth quadrants, forming a "c" of sorts. This graph would not pass the vertical-line test and would therefore not be considered a function.

How do you define function and relation?

A relation has pairs of numbers. A function is a special relation where for each input there is one and only one output.

In which of these pairs of numbers would both numbers round to6.23?

6.232 6.236

What is the function in algebra of ordered pairs?

The function in algebra of ordered pairs is function notation. For example, it would be written out like: f(x)=3x/4 if you wanted to know three fourths of a number.

How do you find how many pairs are there in any given group of numbers?

If there are n numbers in the group, there aren2 ordered pairs if the numbers can be repeated,n*(n-1) ordered pairs if the numbers cannot be repeated,n2/2 pairs if the numbers can be repeated,n*(n-1)/2 pairs if the numbers cannot be repeated.

What numbers added together equal 32?

There are an infinite number of possible answers. One of the easier pairs is 1 and 31.

What are all the pairs of prime numbers that are consecutive numbers?

The numbers 2 and 3 are consecutive prime numbers. Are there other pairs of prime numbers which are consecutive numbers?

What are related pairs of numbers?

I'd hate to give you a definition like, "Related pairs of numbers are pairs of numbers that are related" so let's just go with an example. Let the first number of a pair represent a quantity of bicycles. Let the second number represent the number of tires per bicycle. With 1 bicycle you would have 2 tires, with 2 you would have 4 and so on. (1,2)(2,4)(3,6)(4,8) are related pairs of numbers.

If a set of ordered pairs is not a relation can the set still be a function?

If a set of ordered pairs is not a relation, the set can still be a function.

How do you make 92 with consecutive numbers?

Adding consecutive pairs of numbers will always turn out to be an odd number. It would have to be consecutive odd numbers: 45 and 47.

How you tell if set of ordered pairs a function?

If there are any pairs with the same second element but different first elements, then it is not a function. Otherwise it is.
