the are, unfortunately, unavoidable. any system of measurement will come short in measuring actual reality.

if you need to weigh your gasoline for a molotov coctail and you can only measure gallons (and not fractions thereof) you would not know how much fuel you were using. you would see only an unknown portion of a gallon without actuall knowing, numerically, how much was in it.

What are the rules of the dissimilar fractions?

I assume you mean, with different denominators. If you want to add the fractions, subtract them, or compare them (determine which one is greater), you have to convert them to similar fractions (fractions with the same denominator) first. Converting to similar fractions is not necessary, and usually doesn't even help, if you want to multiply or divide fractions.

Why is it necessary to convert two fractions into like fractions before adding and subtracting them?

Because think of like fractions as the same things.. you can subtract halves from halves for example, but what does it mean to take away a half from a third?By converting them into like fractions, we can add or subtract them easily.

What is the meaning of adding fractions?

Adding fractions involves combining two or more fractions to create a new fraction that represents the total value. To do this accurately, the fractions must have a common denominator; if they don't, the fractions must first be converted to equivalent fractions with the same denominator. Once the fractions share a common denominator, their numerators can be added together while the denominator remains unchanged. The result can often be simplified if necessary.

Is it always necessary to find the least common denominator to compare the sizes of fractions?

It is not always necessary to find the least common denominator to compare the sizes of fractions. When comparing fractions with the same denominator, you can simply compare the numerators. If the denominators are different, you can find a common denominator by multiplying the denominators together, but it is not always required for comparison. Alternatively, you can convert the fractions to decimals for easier comparison in some cases.
