(x+4)(x-4)
How you do it:
See the x squared? Well put one of each in a set of parentheses, so far u have (x)(x)
Then, see the -16? Well what times what equals -16? (If multiply the square root twice do so) So let's use 4 and -4 (a negative times a positive equals a negative 16)
Put a four in each parentheses (doesn't matter which goes where) Now you have
(x+4)(x-4)
There you go!
x2-6x-27 = (x+3)(x-9) when factored
(X + 2)(X + 4) Factored
x^2+6x-16 (x+2)+(6x-16) x+8+x-16 (x+8)(x-2) here you go :)
. x + 4
(x+2)(x-9)
x2 - 6x - 16 = (x + 2)(x - 8)
(x + 2)(x - 8)
x2-6x-27 = (x+3)(x-9) when factored
X - 4
x - 4 APEX
(x + 3)(x + 3)
x + 4
(x + 1)(x + 5)
(X + 2)(X + 4) Factored
You didn't bother to list the binomials to choose from, but the two binomial factors of x2 + 6x - 40 are (x + 10) and (x - 4)
16 + 6x - x2 = 16 + 8x - 2x - x2 = 8*(2 + x) - x*(2 + x) = (8 - x)*(2 + x)
x2 + 6x - 2 can not be factored
