The area of a rectangle is worked out by the equation axb when a is length and b is width. Thus, if a and b are both integers, a good way to work out possible lengths would be to break down the area into its prime factors. These are 2, 3 and 3. Now any product of these primes for a, and the other prime for b, will work as a possible rectangle.

For example a=2x3=6 and b=3 will work

a=3x3=9 and b=2 will work

Thus possible rectangles are 1x18, 2x9 and 3x6

If The area of a rectangle is 18 units squared and the other rectangle has area 6 units squared what would the ratio of their areas be?

ratio is 18 to 6 which is 3 to 1.

The perimeter of a rectangle is 18 feet and the area of the rectangle is 14 square feet what is the length of the rectangle?

7 feet 2(7+2) = 18 feet 7*2 = 14 square feet

If the area of a rectangle is 18 square inches and the length of the rectangle is twice it's width what is the length and width of the rectangle?

A rectangle with one side that is double the length of the other side can be seen as two squares beside each other, that are half the area of the original rectangle, in this case 18 square inches / 2 = 9 square inches. The side of a square is the square root of the area, in this case the square root of 9 square inches, which is 3 inches. Now think about the rectangle again. What we just counted was the side of a square that made up one half of the rectangle you wanted to calculate the area of. So the shorter side of the rectangle is the same as our square, and the longer side is double the length. So the width of the rectangle is 3 inches, and the length is 2 * 3 inches = 6 inches. Or: Area = length x width (A=lw) Area = 18 (in2) Width = w Length = twice width (2w) 18 = (2w)w 18 = 2w2 9 = w2 3 = w The width is 3 in., the length (2w) is 6 in.

How do you draw a rectangle with an area of 18 square centimeters and perimeter of 18 centimeters?

Draw it with dimensions of (6 cm) by (3 cm).

The length of a rectangle is 4cm longer than its width If the perimeter of the rectangle is 36cm find its area?

Length + width = half of perimeter, ie 18 cm. 18 - 4 = 14, 14/2 = 7 so sides are 7 and 11 cm and area = 77sq cm
