The middle value of a data set (group of number) when the numbers are sorted by increasing value.
i.e. If a data set has 11 values the median is the 6th value.
If there is an even number of values, the average of the middle two is the median.
i.e. 1 4 6 10 12 16
The middle two values are 6 & 10 so the median is 8.
Take all the scores in a set of data and put them in order. If the number of scores is odd, then the one right in the middle is the median. It separates the scores into two equal 'piles'. If the number of scores is even, and the two middle-most values are different, usually the half-way point between them is chosen as the median, by convention. If they are the same, that is the median. it is like the average of something
e.g. 1, 5, 5, 6, 8.
MAKE SURE THEY ARE IN ORDER! Cross of one from the left and then one from the right and keep going until you get a number in the middle like so. the answer here is 5.
e.g. 7 9, 11, 15, 25*, 28, 30, 31.
If you get 2 answers like here* then you need to find the difference between the numbers. The calculation you would do here is 25 - 15 = 10 then, 10 divided by 2 = 5. then, 15 + 5 = 20.
Meadian=Middle.
4 ex: 1,4,7,9,15,17,23
the meadian is 9, because its in the middle of all those numbers :)
i hope this helped. i just took a yest on it in school today.
That means that, in a set of numbers, there are just as many numbers greater than the calculated median, as there are numbers less than the median.
To calculate the median, sort the numbers, then pick the number in the middle. If there are two middle numbers, take their average.
the median is the middle number in a set of data.
Medians bisect the sides of ALL triangles. That is what a median is, by definition!
The mean is the same thing as the average. To find it you add all the numbers together and then divide by the number of numbers you added. The median is the one that is in the middle. To find it you put all of the numbers in descending order and cross off from each end until you reach the middle and then that's the median. The mode is the number that occurs the most frequently.
The median is the middle value of a list of numbers. In [1,6,34] the median value is 6.
You find the median to find the middle number
the median is the middle number in a set of data.
Mean is the average, and median is the middle number.
Median is the number that u find in the middle.
The median, by definition, tells you the "half way point" of your data. Exactly half of the observations in the dataset will be less than the median and half will be greater than the median.
Some controls etc that are already set at median values.
A strip of curbing separating two directions of an avenue or road.
what is the median of 45,43,41,43,40,39,42,48,36
No. By definition of the median, the median has 50 percent of the case below and 50 percent of the cases above. This has nothing to do with the cases being in a normal distribution.
It is the middle number with the numbers in order from the least to greatest.
The median of a set of values is the number in the mid-ordinal position of the set in ordered form. To find the median of a set of number, first put them in order and then the median is the one in the middle. If there are 2n+1 numbers (n = integer) then the median is the n+1th number. If there are 2n, then the median is either defined as the the average of the nth and n+1th numbers.
The word middle in mathematics means the number that is physically in the middle of the group of numbers. The median is the middle number when the numbers are organized by numerical order.
The number which is placed in the middle of a group of numbers which are sorted into order from smallest to biggest. For example; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 = the median is 3 :D
