100% is the whole number.
4 is 100% of 4.
2 is 50% of 4.
1 is 25% of 4.
See a pattern? 2 is half of 4. 50 is half of 100. 1 is one fourth of 4. 25 is one fourth of 100.
Percentage is basically taking a number, dividing it by the maximum possible number, and multiplying it by 100. It's like finding the fraction/decimal and multiplying it by 100.
Eg. if you get 46 out of 50 in a test, to find your percentage, you divide 46 by 50 and multiply by 100:
46/50=0.92
0.92x100%=92%
(note, you should put '%' behind the 100 to show that you're finding percentage)
Tips:
Incidentally, 46 is exactly half of 92. When your maximum possible number is a factor of 100, you can just multiply your mark by the other factor. In other words, since 50x2=100, to find the percentage of 46/50, just take 46x2.
So if you have for example 22/25, just multiply 22 by 4 to get the percentage (88%) since 25x4=100.
More tedious numbers such as 43/45 would require the longer method of dividing 43 by 45 and multiplying by 100.
Of course if the maximum possible number is 100 then your life is easy, since you don't need to do anything. 80/100 is just 80%.
When you have percentages like 200%, it means double the maximum possible number. Eg. 200% of 4 is 8. 500% of 4 is 20, and so on.
If you want to find 150% of 4, divide 150 by 100 and multiply by 4.
150% of 4=(150/100)x4=6
This is basically the same thing as taking 100% of 4 and 50% of 4 and adding them together:
100% of 4 + 50% of 4 = 4 + 2 = 6
The more you play with percentages, the more patterns you'll see, and you'll find lots of shortcuts.

a number increase from 500 to 625 find the percentage increase
You take your percentage and divide it by 100 then times it by your whole number or what you are trying to find the percent of
say the number you start out with is A, and the number it becomes is B. to find the percentage, you must subtract A-B. Then divide the answer by A and multiply by 100% to get the percentage. (A-B)/A * 100% ex. 10 is the number you start with, 4 is the second number. So A=10 and B=4 10-4=6 6/10=0.6 multiply by 100% to get the percentage 60% so the percent of decrease is 60%
In order to find x percent of any number the general way of doing that is to multiply the number by the percentage. Since percentage means hundredths of any number, percentages are written with the decimal point moved two places toward the left-hand side. Your Done!
You find the percentage equivalent and the round the result to the nearest whole number.
a number increase from 500 to 625 find the percentage increase
I guess you mean find the percentage of one number of another, eg what percentage of 100 is 30: Divide the number for which the percentage of the other is required by the other number (making it a fraction of the second number) and multiply it by 100 %.
The answer depends on whether you wish to find one number as a percentage of another or if you want a given percentage of a number.
find it urself fool
You take your percentage and divide it by 100 then times it by your whole number or what you are trying to find the percent of
To find the percentage of one number you divide the numbers then multiply the answer by 100. For an example, if you want to find the percentage of four that the number three is you divide three by four and then multiply the result ,which is 0.75, by 100 and your result or percentage would be 75%!
Number of total marks x100
Get the denominator to be 100.
For save percentage, you divide the number of saves over the number of shots on goal.
The answer depends on what the percentage problem is. The equations will be different depending on whether you want to find:one number as a percentage of another,a given percentage of a number, the percentage change applied to a given number, find the original number if given the number after the percentage change.
A percentage is a portion of 100. so to find the calculation of a decreased percentage, you subtract.
To find the percentage of a number, multiply the number by the percentage expressed as a decimal or fraction. For example, to find 20% of 80, multiply 80 by 0.20 or 1/5. This will give you the answer of 16.
