(5x 2 - 8x + 1) + (2x 2 - 4x - 11)
This is how I did it:8x3+4x2+6x+3[8x3+4x2]+[6x+3][(4x2)(2x+1)]+[(3)(2x+1)]....as you can see, this is in the general form of ab+cb, which factored is b(a+c), so:(2x+1)(4x2+3)
(2x + 4)(2x - 4) to check your answer, use the FOIL method (first, outside, inside, last) F.... 2x x 2x = 4x^2 0.... 2x x -4 = -8x I..... 2x x 4 = 8x L.... 4 x -4 = -16 so 4x^2 - 16 = (2x + 4)(2x - 4)
8x + 6 = 2x + 24 To solve, collect like terms on each side; collect the x's on the left, the numbers on the right: 8X + 6 = 2x + 24 8x - 2x = 24 - 6 6x = 18 6x / 6 = 18 / 6 x = 3
8x - 22 = 2x + 28x - 2x - 22 = 2x - 2x + 26x - 22 = 26x - 22 + 22 = 2+ 226x = 24x = 24/6 = 4
(4x + 1)(2x + 3)
The answer is (2x^2+3)(4x+1)
(4x - 3)(2x + 3)
(5x 2 - 8x + 1) + (2x 2 - 4x - 11)
It can not be factored because its discriminant is less than zero
2x2 + 11x + 12 = 2x2 + 3x + 8x + 12 = x*(2x + 3) + 4*(2x + 3) = (2x + 3)*(x + 4)
(2x - 1)(4x + 1)
8x^2 + 6x - 5 = 8x^2 + 10x - 4x - 5 = 2x * (4x + 5) - (4x + 5) = (2x -1) * (4x + 5)
4x2 + 8x + 4 = 4 (x2 + 2x + 1) = 4 (x + 1)2
(2x - 1)(2x + 5)
The GCF is 2x.
4x2 + 8x + 4 = 4 (x2 + 2x + 1) = 4 (x + 1)2
