The length is 7 feet and the width is 5 feet
By convention the longer side is called the length, but it doesn't have to be. Consider a rectangular window: If you were to buy a blind for a window, the length of the blind would correspond to the drop from top to bottom of the window, and the width of the blind would correspond to the distance from side to side. If the window was a short, wide window the width of the blind would be longer than its length!
Mathematically you can call the short side width and long side length or you can call the short side length and long side width. In practice, usually we specify the width is shorter than the length.

Area of a rectangle is length times width, therefore if the length is two feet longer than the width then the length is 9 and the width is 7, when they are multiplied you get 63
