It's never been legally limited by the FCC. For several years, there was a voluntary limit

in the broadcast industry ... I think it was either 13 minutes or 18 minutes per hour, but

it doesn't matter, because it's not followed any more.

Nowadays, the answer is: As many as they can sell, and air without losing listeners.

Remember, radio is a for-profit business. The owners of the station are the sellers,

the commercial advertisers are the buyers, and your ears are the product that's

bought and sold.
