You can write numbers either in "character" form or by word description.

This 317 or "three hundred and seventeen"

This 50,079 or "fifty thousand and seventy nine"

Of course the numbers can also be written in the binary system, in which case the number 47 in "ordinary" number can be written as 101111.

Here the first 1 is worth 32, the 0 is worth 0; the next 1 is worth 8, the next one 4, the next 2 and the last 1 is worth 1
