Rounding to the nearest whole number is just what it sounds like: using a whole number in place of a fraction because it's easier to say six dollars than $5.98.

If the number is 1/2 or less, it will round down - for example, 8.2 rounds down to 8 because it's between 8 and 8 1/2.

If the number is 1/2 or more, it will round up - e.g., 4 3/4 rounds to 5.
