In electrolysis, oxygen and hydrogen gas are produced at different electrodes (oxygen at the anode and hydrogen at the cathode). Since these electrodes do not have to be in close proximity, the hydrogen and oxygen will bubble upwards into separate collection vessels.

If you needed to separate hydrogen and oxygen once mixed, the easiest way I can think of would be to cool the mixture to ~60K. At this point the oxygen would condense and leave hydrogen gas.

What is needed to decompose water into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas?

Electrolysis is the process by which water can be split into Hydrogen Gas and Oxygen. This is done by running a current of electricity through the water which is diluted with sulphuric acid (or lemon water or salt) because it is a good conductor of electricity. Hydrogen is a Cation and Oxygen is an Anion then near the positive ends of the current you will find Hydrogen bubbles and the negative side you will find Oxygen bubbles.

What is the role of an industrial engineer in facilities planning and design?

Industrial engineers can estimate the time taken and the process for manufacture. This will help you estimate the type and number of machines required to manufacture your product.

What does industrial scale mean?

Industrial scale refers to the large size or capacity of a manufacturing or production process. It indicates that the operation is carried out on a commercial level, typically involving the use of advanced machinery, significant quantities of raw materials, and high production volumes. The term is often used to describe the mass production of goods in industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, and mining.

How does Einstein's famous equation E mc2 relate to the production of the Sun's energy?

The sun produces energy by the fusion of nuclei of small elements into those of larger elements: for example hydrogen into oxygen. This process involves a loss of mass and that mass is converted into solar energy - in line with Einstein's equation.

Is piston cylinder process is constant pressure process or constan volume process?

A piston cylinder process actually includes two processes. The gas inside the piston undergoes both the constant pressure process and the contant volume process.

How do you separate hydrogen and oxygen gases without explosion in industrial electrolysis of water?

In industrial electrolysis of water, hydrogen and oxygen gases can be safely separated by using separate collection chambers to prevent them from mixing. This is typically done by employing a membrane or a barrier between the two electrodes to keep the gases separated. Additionally, proper ventilation and control systems are in place to ensure that any buildup of gases is safely released to prevent explosion.

What is used to separate hydrogen and oxygen?

Electrolysis is commonly used to separate hydrogen and oxygen. In this process, an electric current is passed through water, causing it to split into hydrogen and oxygen gases.

Can you separate hydrogen in the sodium chloride solution?

No, you cannot separate hydrogen from a sodium chloride solution by electrolysis because sodium chloride does not contain hydrogen in a form that can be readily separated through electrolysis. Sodium chloride solution will only undergo electrolysis to produce chlorine gas at the anode and sodium metal at the cathode.

The process of passing electricity through water to chemically separate it into hydrogen and oxygen is call?

It is called electrolysis.

How do you get hydrogen from water?

Hydrogen can be obtained from water through a process called electrolysis, which involves passing an electric current through water to separate it into hydrogen and oxygen gas. This process requires a source of electricity and typically uses electrodes to facilitate the reaction.

How to separate hydrogen in water?

Hydrogen can be separated from water through a process called electrolysis. In this process, an electric current is passed through water, which causes the water molecules to split into hydrogen and oxygen gas. The hydrogen gas is then collected at one electrode, while oxygen gas is collected at the other electrode.

Why electrolysis can be separate by fractional distillation?

Electrolysis is a process, fractional distillation another.

Do you need a chemical process to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen?

Yes, to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen, a chemical process called electrolysis is typically used. This process involves passing an electric current through water to break it down into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen gases, which are collected separately.

How do you prepare hydrogen from water at home?

by the process of electrolysis

Hydrogen molecules and oxygen molecules can be easily split by what?

Hydrogen and oxygen molecules can be easily split by electrolysis, which involves passing an electric current through water to separate it into its component elements, hydrogen and oxygen gas.

Can you yield Aluminum from Al2O3 and Hydrogen?

Yes, aluminum can be extracted from Al2O3 (alumina) using a process called the Hall-Héroult process, which involves electrolysis of molten alumina. Hydrogen is not typically used in the extraction of aluminum from alumina in industrial processes.

Is using electricity to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen a chemical change?

Yes, using electricity to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen is a chemical change because it involves breaking the bonds between the hydrogen and oxygen atoms in water molecules to form separate hydrogen and oxygen molecules. This process is known as electrolysis.
