Before you can start looking for an answer, you have to understand what the
question is, and you're not there yet. The answer to any equation is a pair of
numbers for 'x' and 'y' that make the equation a true statement, and there are
an infinite number of them. So there are several things you can be asked to do
with an equation, but nobody will ever ask you to "work it out".
If x squared = 5 then x = sqrt(5) = 2.2361 (approx).

x squared plus 5
timesed by itself twice. eg. 2 squared = 2 x 2 5 squared = 5 x 5
multiply by 2y/x
If x squared is not 5, then x is not equal to 5. Do not fall for the trap that the converse is "if x-squared = 25 then x = 5" since that is not a true statement.
If x squared = 5 then x = sqrt(5) = ± 2.2361 (approx).
2 squared X 3 squared = 5 squared
If x squared = 5 then x = sqrt(5) = 2.2361 (approx).

x squared +6x +5 is a quadratic expression that can be factored as (x+1)(x+5)
If x is equal to 5, then x squared plus 25 is equal to 50.
x squared plus 5
(5 - x)(5 + x)
2 squared x 5 squared The GCF of 30 and 100 is 10. The LCM of 30 and 100 is 300.
5 squared = 5 x 5 = 25
It is: (x-5)(x+1) when factored
