To convert decimals to fractions.

Inspect the number of decimal digits. Two in this case.

Place the decimal over '1 point followed by two 'zeroes'.

Hence

0.25/1.00

Cancel down the decimal point

025/100

The prefix 'zero' to '25' is trivial, so drop it.

25/100

Cancel down by '25'

1/4 the answer!!!!!

NB This method is good for all decimals, just check the number of decimal digits is equal to the number of 'zeroes'.

However, there are two SPECIAL Cases. viz. where decimals go to infinity in a regular order, which can be converted to a fraction/ratio (RATIONAL).

The other case is where the decimals go to infinity, and there is no regular order in the decimal digits. These CANNOT be converted to a fraction/ratio (IRRATIONAL).

pi = 3.141592.... is the most well known IRRATIONAL number.
