One method would be with water displacement. Fill a graduated cylinder with a known amount of water. Drop in the nut. Push below surface with wire, or something with negligible volume. Read volume, and subtract.
Still me... by the way, this is an 8th grade science experiment so simplicity would be nice. Thank you for your assistance in advance.
The mass of a 10 kilogram necklace is 10,000 grams. Very heavy. If the questioner, intended 10 k to refer to value, they should have said what currency and what material the necklace was made of.

To calculate the density of an unknown substance, first measure its mass using a balance. Then, determine its volume by either measuring its dimensions and calculating the volume or using displacement method in a liquid. Finally, divide the mass by the volume to calculate the density of the unknown substance.
It would not be good for finding the volume of an object that is less dense than water. Such an object would float and therefore would not displace its full volume worth of water.
Multiple the length by the width by the height
To find the volume of an irregularly shaped object that would dissolve in water, you can use the water displacement method. Fill a known volume of water in a container, note the initial water level, then submerge the object in the water and measure the new water level. The difference in water levels is the volume of the object.

Train. Would have been the easiest method.

volume because u want to know how much it hold so volume means how much it holds.
