i don't know whether there exists Alo,all i study so far is Al2O3
both MgO and Al2O3 are ionic compouds. Al3+ is smaller than Mg2+(due to higher proton charge thus attracts the electrons closer),thus the ionic bonds in Al2O3 is greater thus it is harder.

What is wrong with the equation mg o2mgo2?

The equation "mg o2mgo2" appears to be incorrectly formatted and lacks clarity. It seems to attempt to represent a chemical reaction involving magnesium (Mg) and oxygen (O2) to form magnesium oxide (MgO). However, it is not properly balanced or expressed, as it does not follow standard chemical notation or conventions. A correct representation of the reaction would be 2 Mg + O2 → 2 MgO, which shows the proper stoichiometry and product formation.

Is the Mg said to be oxidized or not?

Magnesium (Mg) is said to be oxidized when it loses electrons during a chemical reaction. In oxidation reactions, magnesium typically reacts with nonmetals, such as oxygen, forming magnesium oxide (MgO). During this process, magnesium goes from an oxidation state of 0 to +2, indicating that it has been oxidized. Therefore, yes, magnesium is considered to be oxidized in such reactions.

How do Mg react to O?

Magnesium (Mg) reacts with oxygen (O) to form magnesium oxide (MgO) in a highly exothermic reaction. When magnesium burns in the presence of oxygen, it produces a bright white flame and forms a white powdery substance, which is magnesium oxide. The balanced chemical equation for this reaction is 2Mg + O₂ → 2MgO. This reaction illustrates magnesium's strong affinity for oxygen and its role as a metal that readily oxidizes.

What is electrovalent combinations?

Electrovalent combinations, also known as ionic bonds, occur when atoms transfer electrons to achieve stable electron configurations, typically between metals and nonmetals. In this process, a metal atom donates one or more electrons, becoming a positively charged ion (cation), while a nonmetal atom accepts the electrons to become a negatively charged ion (anion). The electrostatic attraction between these oppositely charged ions results in the formation of ionic compounds, which often have high melting and boiling points and conduct electricity when dissolved in water or molten. Examples include sodium chloride (NaCl) and magnesium oxide (MgO).

Is NaCl has greater lattice energy than MgO?

because Mg and O have more electropositivity and electronegativity rspt. than Na and Cl atoms.

Is mgO a covalent bond?

No. It is ionic because the electronegativity difference is greater than 1.7 (2.3).

Is dolomitic limestone same as agricultural limestone or horticultural hydrated limestone?

dolomitic limestone is different from agricultural or hydrated limestone the difference is in the MgO content and hardness Dolomitic Limestone is harder than both and its MgO content is higher. The CaO is lower in Dolomitic limestone and High in the later.

What one has a higher mass percent of magnesium MgO or Mg3N2?

Magnesium nitride (Mg3N2) has a higher percentage composition of magnesium than magnesium oxide (MgO) does. The percentage composition of magnesium in magnesium nitride is 72.2% and the percentage composition of magnesium in magnesium oxide is 60.3%.

When 24.3g of magnesium is combusted with oxygen it yields 40.3g MgO How much magnesiun needs to be burned to yield 12.1g MgO?

To determine how much magnesium is needed to yield 12.1g of MgO, we can use the ratio of magnesium to MgO from the initial combustion. From the data provided, 24.3g of magnesium produces 40.3g of MgO. The ratio of magnesium to MgO is 24.3g Mg / 40.3g MgO, which simplifies to approximately 0.603g Mg per gram of MgO. Thus, to yield 12.1g of MgO, we need about 12.1g × 0.603g Mg/g MgO ≈ 7.29g of magnesium.

How many moles are in 106 grams of MgO?

To determine the number of moles in 106 grams of MgO, you need to divide the given mass by the molar mass of MgO. The molar mass of MgO is 40.3 g/mol (24.3 g/mol for Mg + 16 g/mol for O). Thus, 106 g / 40.3 g/mol = approximately 2.63 moles of MgO.

How many moles are present in 1g of MgO?

2 Mg(OH)2 have 10 atoms.

Is Mgo a compound or element?

MgO is a compound because it has more than one type of element in it, magnesium and oxygen.

How many atoms MgO?

there are two atoms in the chemical MgO

Is MgO a ionic compound?

No. MgO is a compound called magnesium oxide. It is composed of two elements: magnesium and oxygen.Hint: if the chemical formula contains more than one capital latter than the substance is not an element.

Is MgO an element or a compound?

MgO is a compound because it is composed of the elements magnesium (Mg) and oxygen (O) bonded together in a fixed ratio. It is not a pure element itself, but a chemical combination of different elements.
