THE RAIN is a very beautiful short poem. in this poem the poet gives us serious message in a few words. It is a short criticism that gives us discrimination between rich and the poor. The poet was sitting under the tree and saw the beautiful rain drops fall on the different object that provide a musical display. he says he hears the upper level tree leaves are drinking water and quench their thirst and gave the water to the lower level leaves. similar, if the rich people helps the poor and bring out from the miserable life and eliminate their worries, the world become quite attractive and peaceful. in the second stanza he gives the glimpse of the sun after the rain when the sun again comes out and eliminate the darkness and shine brightly. THIS POEM gives description of nature in amusing manner because nature has upper hand on the man lives and distributes the happiness among the people.Nature plays an important role in our lives and make them difficult. e mail address PRINCESSNAINA 214@ Yahoo .COM

Davies combines his innocent pleasures of spiritual enjoyment and the stark reality of social discrimination in The Rain thereby creating a dual affect on his readers. His personality is so intricately integrated that he seems to be unable in separating his deep concern for the adverse circumstances of the poor and his innocent love for the beautiful phenomenon of nature, rain. The unfair distribution of wealth in the modern mercenary society is equally painful for him as is delightful the charming beauty of nature. Neither overtakes nor underestimates the other. Purposeful poetry finds an exquisite expression in this short poem. And there comes the benevolent Sun who shines equally upon all. Take it divine or human, the element of moral goodness is not absent from the subject matter, leaving alone the generosity of those who care for the poor. And this noise of rainfall on leaves is thus a melody for him for the smallest act of humane kindness may provide him with gladness though not the solace. W H Davies suffered all his life from a condition which these days we would recognise as clinical depression. In The Dark Hour he explains that even though he ought to be happy, he is nonetheless sad - and does not know why. Many of W H Davies' poems are similarly depressive - even his most famous piece 'Leisure' has a dark undertow to it.
