the speed depends on how much farther it still has to go.

Examples:

-- current flowing out of a battery, as the battery discharges

-- current flowing into a battery from the charger, as the battery fills up

-- rate at which heat flows out of a cup of hot coffee as it cools to room-temperature

-- your speed, if you're walking to school and you cover 1/2 of the remaining distance every minute.
