To find equivalent fractions multiply (or divide) the numerator and denominator both by the same number.
→ 1/6 = (1×2)/(6×2) = 2/12
→ 1/6 = (1×3)/(6×3) = 3/18
→ 1/6 = (1×5)/(6×5) = 5/30
etc.

To compare fractions, if the denominators (bottom numbers) are the same, the greater fraction is the one with the larger numerator (top number); however, if the numerators are the same, then the larger fraction is the one with the smaller denominator. As the numerators are the same, the one with the smaller denominator is the larger fraction, thus 1/2 is greater than 1/6 Alternatively, making them equivalent fractions with the same denominator: 1/6 → 1/6 1/2 → 1x3/2x3 = 3/6 3 is greater than 1, so 3/6 is greater than 1/6, thus 1/2 is greater than 1/6
do you mean 5 over 6, or 5 divided by 6 with the fraction bar? if you do then you just multiply both numbers by the same number and you have a non-simplified version of the same fraction. EX: 5 over 6 could be 10 over 12.
