The product rule is a formula that is used to find the derivative of the product of two or more functions. It is summarized as thus: y' = u x v' + v x u' ("first times the derivative of the second, plus the second times the derivative of the first"). Ex: y = (2x4 + 6x3 + 9x) X (3x2 + x7+ 12) y' = (2x4 + 6x3 + 9x) X (6x + 7x6) + (3x2 + x7+ 12) X (8x3 + 18x2 + 9) y' = 12x5 + 14x10 + 36x4 + 54x2 + 63x7 + 24x5 + 54x4 + 27x2 + 8x10 + 18x9 + 9x7 + 96x3 + 216x2 + 108 y' = 36x5 + 22x10 + 90x4 + 297x2 + 72x7 + 18x9 + 96x3 + 108

The molar mass of aluminum sulfate, Al2(SO4)3, can be calculated by adding together the atomic masses of all the elements in the compound. Aluminum has a molar mass of 26.98 g/mol, sulfur has a molar mass of 32.06 g/mol, and oxygen has a molar mass of 16.00 g/mol. By calculating the total molar mass, the molar mass of aluminum sulfate is found to be approximately 342.14 g/mol.
I'll assume you're talking about multiplying in your head without using a calculator. If not, writing is generally the best method. But in mental calculations, read below. There's many ways, but one way is to memorize the multiplication tables all the way to 19x Then, when multiplying higher numbers (ex: 96x83), divide the probelm into sections. For exmaple, I would solve 96x83 by: Multiply 96 times 10, then multiply the result by 8. Afterwards, multiply 96 by 3 & add the result. Basically, simplify the probelms into easier numbers; the human brain is more comfortable multiplying "simple" probelms like 10x10 than 9x9. In writing, 96x83=8(96x10) + 96x3 =8(960) + 288 =7680+288 =7968 Once you get into the habit of it, these probelms should get easier; people tend to be more relaxed with probelms involving "simple" numbers like 10 than others. For 3 digit numbers (ex: 467 x 854): Unless you really have gift for calculation, its generally unreliable to use mental calculation on these probelms. In fact, you'd be safer writing it down. However, simplifying the multiplication probelm into easier ones may help you. If not, stick with writing. *This is only one example of calculation; there are as many ways to multiply as there are water drops in an ocean.
