-works because its like multiplying by 1 so it doesn't change the fractions

(3/12) + (2/12)

-when multiplying fractions, just multiply the numbers across, top times the top and bottom times the bottom

ANSWER = (5/12)

-just add the numerators, numbers on top, because the denominators, numbers on bottom, are the same, both 12.
