US Newspapers & Magazines (LIFE, TIME, NEWSWEEK, etc.), and TV news stations usually quoted weekly casualty figures in the 100 or so margin a week. This data included ALL US branches; Navy, Army, Marines, Coast Guard, and Air Force. US Airmen shot down over North Vietnam were constant regular casualties announced by newsmen, normally more than once a week. The highlight of the announcement was whether the pilot was rescued or not (Killed/POW/MIA/or Rescued).
