A continuous number can take any value, such a 1.234, or 3.5, or 10.11. Height is usually a continuous quantity (even though height cannot be negative, it is still continous). Time is also usually considered continuous.

Whereas a discrete number must take certain values, such as (1, 1/2, 3, 4, 5 etc. . for shoe sizes) or (1, 2, 3 etc.. for amount of people). Since you cannot get .2 of a person, or -3 pencils or something equally illogical .

Is time discrete or continuous?

Continuous. Discrete variables are only expressed as integer values, whereas continuous is, as its name suggests, continuous.

What is the basic principle of ADC?

simple comparator technique. An analog-to-digital converter (abbreviated ADC, A/D or A to D) is a device which converts a continuous quantity to a discrete time digital representation.

What does it mean to say that a certain quantity is quantized?

When a quantity is quantized, it means that it can only take on discrete, specific values rather than any continuous value. This is often seen in physical phenomena such as the quantization of energy levels in atoms or the quantization of charge in elementary particles.

What is example of a quantity that is continuous?

People's heights.

Which phenomenon shows the light interacts with matter as a particle of discrete quantity?

photoelectric effect

Are quantum physics and particle physics synonymous?

Yes. The idea that matter is not continuous but discrete is the basic foundation of quantum physics. Particles constitute that principle. Every physical quantity contains the smallest possible value and this quantity is made up of packets of values which are a integer multiple of this small value. We call these packets 'quanta' or particles.

The difference between actual and standard cost caused by the difference between the actual quantity and the standard quantity is called the?

The difference between actual quantity and standard quantity is called the material quantity variance.

Difference between analog and digital transducer?

Analog transducers convert the input quantity into an analog output which is a continuous function of time. E.g.-L.V.D.T,Thermocouple, Strain guageDigital transducers convert the input quantity into an electrical output which is in the form of pulses.

What do you mean by Quality and Quantity in terms of Geography?

Quality has to do with descriptive characteristics while quantity deals with numerical statistics and analysis.

Is perimeter a vector quantity?

No, perimeter is not a vector quantity. A vector quantity has both magnitude and direction, while perimeter is simply the continuous line enclosing a shape and is scalar in nature.

Do vectors have quantity?

Both scalars and vectors have quantity. The difference is a vector has quantity and direction, whereas scalars only have quantity.

What is the difference between quantity and number?

Number and quantity are two different yet connected ideas. When we talk about quantity, we mean the quantity or measure of anything, such as the number of commodities, water, or time. It can be represented using quantities like gallons, pounds, or hours, and is typically used to refer to continuous or quantifiable variables. The mathematical idea of a value used to count or measure anything is referred to as a number, on the other hand. It is utilized to depict the count or quantity of discrete things or objects, such as the number of people in a space, vehicles on a road, or goods in a shopping cart. Units like integers or whole numbers can be used to express numbers. Saying "the number of bottles is five" instead of "the amount of water in the bottle is 500ml," for instance. In conclusion, whereas number refers to the count of something, quantity refers to the amount or measure of something.
