You don't really need to know this unless you have any drive, or desire to rise above the dumbified populations and make the world a better place through science.
If you do want to do something of value, not just asking people if they want their number 1 super-sized, graphing linear equations is a step in understanding higher level mathematics - the kind of math they used to get folks on the moon, design cars, create amortization schedules, etc.
No.A directly proportional graph has an equation of the form y = mx. It always passes through the origin.A linear graph will have an equation in the from y = mx + c. This has a y-intercept at (0, c). It doesn't pass through the origin unless c = 0. The directly proportional graph is a special case of a linear graph.

I never need them :D
Press Y= to see the equations. Enter and equation in, using x as the variable. (Press X,T,θ,n for an x.) Enter an equation and press GRAPH to see it. (If you need to graph parametric, polar, or sequential equations, press MODE and select the graph type you need. Select FUNC for normal y= equations.)
It is a linear expression in two variables. As an expression it cannot be solved. Furthermore, to solve equations in two variables you need at least two linear equations.

Nothing yet. It only means that the equations you have are not independent ...one of them is a simple multiple of another one. All you can say so far is thatyou need another equation.
The solution to a system on linear equations in nunknown variables are ordered n-tuples such that their values satisfy each of the equations in the system. There need not be a solution or there can be more than one solutions.
A linear equation in n variables, x1, x2, ..., xn is an equation of the forma1x1 + a2x2 + ... + anxn = y where the ai are constants.A system of linear equations is a set of m linear equations in n unknown variables. There need not be any relationship between m and n. The system may have none, one or many solutions.

A discrete graph is one where one or both variables can only take a some values. These are usually integer values but need not be. For example, shoe sizes (in UK) go up in half units. A non-linear graph is one in which the points of the graph do not lie on a straight line.
Non-linear partial differential equations. Are you offering to help me? If not, why did you ask?
If you don't learn to solve equations then guess and check is the only way to arrive at new information.
Graphing calculators are true to their name: they can graph out equaitions. Letting the calculator graph out equations is a lot easier than plotting and drawing your own graph, but you do not NEED a graphing calculator. Besides that, their functions are similar to other scientific caculators.
