if you are dealing with a line then it is just ft if you are dealing with the area inside a 2-diminsional object such as a square or circle then it becomes square ft or ft with a little 2 after it. if you are dealing with the area of a 3 diminsional objects such as a cube, sphere, or pyramid it become cubed ft or ft with a little 3 after it.
