Find the Hot side of the switch (Where there is voltage regardless of position of toggle on switch). Tie in new Black wire to GFCI. On wire nut with white wire tie in new white wire to GFCI. Do the same for the bare ground wire, if there is one.

To add a new GFCI outlet from an existing switch, you will need to run a new cable from the existing switch to the location where you want to install the GFCI outlet. Connect the new cable to the line side of the switch to ensure that the GFCI outlet is always powered. Make sure to follow all electrical codes and safety precautions while completing this task. If you are unsure about your ability to complete this task, it is recommended to consult a licensed electrician.

Can you connect a wall switch and a light fixture to an existing light fixture?

Yes, you can connect a wall switch to an existing light fixture by running a new electrical wire from the switch to the fixture. This allows you to control the light fixture independently of the existing fixture. It is recommended to consult a licensed electrician to ensure proper wiring and installation for safety.

How do you wire a new light with an on off switch using wires coming from another light?

You can wire the new light by connecting the wires from the existing light fixture to the new light fixture. You would connect the hot wire (typically black) to the hot terminal on the new fixture, the neutral wire (typically white) to the neutral terminal, and the ground wire (typically green or bare copper) to the ground terminal. You can then install the on/off switch in the circuit to control the power to both lights.

Can you extend power through a 3 wire switch leg for a half switched outlet to a new switch for a new light?

Yes, you can extend power through the 3-wire switch leg to a new switch for a new light. You would need to connect the hot wire to the common terminal on the existing switch, then extend the hot wire to the new switch, along with the traveler wire. At the new switch, connect the hot wire to the common terminal and the traveler wire to one of the traveler terminals.

Can you change a light switch to toggle switch outlet?
