A does 1/6 of the work in 1 day.

B does 1/4 of the work in 1 day.

Assuming there is no synergy, A and B, together do 1/6 + 1/4 = 5/12 of the work in 1 day

A worked for 2 days so completed 2*(1/6) = 1/3 of the work.

So 2/3 of the work remained to be done by A and B together.

They would do it in (2/3) / (5/12) = (2/3) * (12/5) =24/15 = 8/5 = 1.6 days.

The total time to finish the work is 2 days + 1.6 days = 3.6 days.
