Let the first number be x and the second number be y:

2nd number:

3x-5 = y

1st number:

10x = 5(3x-5)-5

10x = 15x-25-5

10x-15x = -25-5

-5x = -30

x = 6 and by substituting 6 into 3x-5 = y = 13
