First of all think of the table.

NB If no sign is shown read it a plus(+)

So -2 + -2 . The second term of + - 2 is read as '-'

Hence

-2 - 2 = -4

Think of the number line .... -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 ....

If you move to the left you subtract, if you move to the right you add.

This first number is '-2' , So go to ;-2; on the number line. From there we are subtracting, so move to the left, by '2' places. You 'land on' '-4' ,which is the answer

You just add like a regular number but if you add like -2+-2 you put the - sign and how much it equals
