It does not matter. Conventionally, the length is the biggest side because it is the longest and so has the longest measure. But there are exceptions to that as well. That is why many manufacturers tell you (LxW or LxWxH) as well as giving the actual measures.
After looking at several sites the rugs were all describe by the shorter(width) first.
That refers to measurements of length (or width or height) - anything that has a single dimension, and is measured in units of length such as the meter.
for what? usually when you say the two, length is said first
acre is a measurement of area, you can not calculate it into a linear measurement (length) without the third factor, which is the width

Length is a measurement of how long something is. Width is a measurement of how wide it is. Width and length are the sizes of an object in 2 dimensions which are 90 degrees apart.
The measurement of length, width, and height finds the volume of a cube or rectangular prism.
Multiply the length measurement by the width measurement and this will give you the area in SQFT if your measurements of length and width were made in feet.
This is a bit arbitrary, but the name "length" is often reserved for the longest measurement, and the "width" would be perpendicular to the length. This is a bit arbitrary, but the name "length" is often reserved for the longest measurement, and the "width" would be perpendicular to the length. This is a bit arbitrary, but the name "length" is often reserved for the longest measurement, and the "width" would be perpendicular to the length. This is a bit arbitrary, but the name "length" is often reserved for the longest measurement, and the "width" would be perpendicular to the length.
Measuring length, width, height, and distance are all forms of what measurement?
The length is the linear measurement of one side of the rectangle (usually the longest) and the width is the linear measurement of the other side of the rectangle (usually the shortest). In a square, both the length and the width would be the same.
Of course it has a length and width
The depth is neither the length nor width. Length is the measurement from top to bottom, width is from side to side, and depth is from front to back.
Not technically. Length is a "side to side" measurement in one direction, while "width" is the other. For a two-dimensional object, length can be top-to-bottom while width is left to right. For a measurement such as a computer display, length may be the width (the longest dimension), while width is a measurement of depth front-to-back.The measurement of "up and down" (vertical) is called height (how tall a three-dimensional object is).
For that, use length.
Measurement of length times width.
