Mean is the sum of a group of numbers divided by the amount of #'s.

Ex; 3, 1, 7, 2, 4, 1

3+1+7+2+4+1=18

18/6=3

mean=3

The mode is which ever number occurs the most

Ex; 3, 4, 5, 5, 3, 5, 4, 1

mode=5

Note that in the first example, the mode is 1, because there are two 1's and all of the other numbers occur only once.

'Mean' is the AVERAGE.

The word 'average' is never used in maths.

'Mode' is the most fashionable, ; most used.

The third statistical function is 'Medium' , the absolute middle.
