A 2-D figure is just a flat surface. These are mostly drawn on paper. When you go to 3-D figures they add a depth dimension. when you figure out the area of the 2-D figure you essentially need to do the same thing but add that depth dimension when taking the surface area for 3-D figures.

If you know how to take the area of a 2-D figure then a 3-D figure is easier to understand and compute the surface area.

What is the volume of a figure when the surface area is 294?

The surface area of a figure does not provide enough information to determine its volume. Indeed, it does no even determine its shape. The volume can have any positive value up to 474.018 cubic units. The surface area of a figure does not provide enough information to determine its volume. How do you calculate the surface-area-to-volume-ratio?

The surface-area-to-volume ratio may be calculated as follows: -- Find the surface area of the shape. -- Find the volume of the shape. -- Divide the surface area by the volume. The quotient is the surface-area-to-volume ratio.

How do you calculate surface area to volume ratio?

You measure or calculate the surface area; you measure or calculate the volume and then you divide the first by the second. The surface areas and volumes will, obviously, depend on the shape.

Do figures with the same volume always have the same surface area?

figures with the same volume does not have the same surface area.

What is the formula for surface area and volume?

That depends on the figure whose surface area and volume you're finding. You could try a Google search for "volume of [figure name]" or "surface area of [figure name]".

What surface area equal to its volume?

No solid figure has a surface area equal to its volume. That would not be possible as the units of measure are different.

How can you obtain a cell's ratio of surface area to volume?

To obtain the ratio of surface area to volume, divide the surface area by the volume.

What is the formula to find volume of a trapezoid?

The trapezoid is a plane figure which has surface Area, but no volume but if there was a 3d figure your equation would be. The Surface Area of a trapezoid = ½(b1+b2) x h X Height of figure.

What is the difference between volume of solid figure and surface area of a solid figure?

Volume is how much an object can store - like how much can you put inside a box. Surface area is the sum of the area of an objects surfaces - such as if you have a box, find the area of one side. Then you just multiply it by 6 (because a box have 6 faces) to get the total area of an object's surface.

How do you figure surface area to volume ratio?

You work both out from measurements of the shape and the relevant formulae.

How do you calculate the surface area and volume of rectangular prisms?

To figure out the surface area of a reactangular prism you have to multiply length x width and then multiply that by how many faces it has, to figure out volume you multiply the length x width x height of the prism and than you will find your answer!!!!!
