You can't. A mixed number is the sum of a whole number and a proper fraction. 253 is a whole number, and if you split it up into a fraction, it would consist of a whole number and an improper fraction.
A mixed number.
Whole number
It's simple really! When there is a whole number and a proper fraction it is a mixed number!
A proper fraction is one in which the numerator is less than the denominator. That means that the value of the fraction is less than '1', so it can't be changedto a whole number. If you have an IMPROPER fraction ... one in which the numerator is more than the denominator ...then it can be changed to a whole number plus a proper fraction, like this:-- Divide the numerator by the denominator, to get the whole number, and a remainder.-- Write the proper fraction. Keep the original denominator, place the remainder in the numerator.

550 IS a whole number and so it cannot be expressed as a proper fraction.
Multiply the bottom by the whole number...and then add THAT number by the top number, hope this is what you're looking for!
If it is a fraction like 5/5 than you can make it into a whole number which in this case is 1, but if you have a fraction such as 3/8 the closest whole number you can get is 0.375 which by the way is not a whole number. however technically, 5/5 is not proper. A proper fraction is when the numerator is less than the denominator, therefore it is simply impossible.

You cannot. By definition, a proper fraction is a number whose absolute value is between 0 and 1. There are no whole numbers between 0 and 1 so the number cannot be changed into a whole number. Also, since the absolute value is less than 1, it cannot be expressed as a mixed number.
The whole number will stay the same. Convert the proper fraction part of the mixed number to a decimal by dividing the denominator into the numerator. 2 and 3/8 = 2.375
This question looks a little turned around. You can't change a proper fraction to an improper one unless you add something to it and improper fractions don't have whole numbers. To change an improper fraction to a mixed number (a whole number with a fraction) divide the denominator into the numerator. The result is the whole number. The remainder gets put over the original denominator. 22/7 = 3 and 1/7
It is a mixed fraction.
