3y = x - 2

First of all divide through nby '3'

Hence

y = (1/3)x - ( 2/3).

For the general form of a straight line is y = mx + c

'm' is the gradient/slope

'c' is the y-intercept.

So in this case , the slope/gradient is '1/3' and the y-intercept is ' -2/3 '.

So on you graph paper., go to the y- axis, and find the point '-2/3' , this is below the x-axis.

Its coordinates are ( 0, -2/3) . Then go along the x-axis to the point x = 1 . Go below this point to a position, where the graph line has raised by '1/3' , The coordinates are ( 1, -1/3) .

As you now have to coordinate positions, you can draw a straight line between them , and then extrapolate that same line in either direction..

When x = 0, the equation becomes 3y = -2 or y = -2/3

Mark the point P = (0, -2/3)

When y = 0, the equation becomes 0 = x-2 or x = 2

Mark the point Q = (2, 0)

Join the two points P and Q and extend the line in both directions.
